Leonard Cohen: ... I thought that I would ... get a tattoo Beryl Fox: Where? Leonard Cohen: There’s this place on St. Lawrence Blvd.
As far as I can determine, Leonard Cohen never got that tattoo - but many of his admirers do sport inked images of and words inspired by the Canadian singer-songwriter on their bodies. Those specimens form the content of the Leonard Cohen On Tattoos photo series.
While perhaps a tad less florid than the iteration just posted, this inked version of the symbol from Leonard Cohen's The Future adorning this fan's back of is nonetheless dramatic. Posted at the Leonard Cohen Facebook page by Fernando-Sena-Santos.

Since Anna Nalick's Leonard Cohen tattoo was featured here October 25, 2011, I've stumbled upon enough other photos of it to put together this small gallery. Not only does Ms Nalick sport a tattoo bearing the phrase,"There's a blaze of light," from the lyrics of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah," but she also sports an adjacent inked line by Percy Bysshe Shelley: "Fear not for the future, weep not for the past."
Tattoo featuring Leonard Cohen lyrics from Bird On The Wire, "I have tried in my way to be free," found at Image Of Grace Creation, where it is accompanied by the following text:
I met this awesome, I mean really really awesome girl at Starbucks in New Hampshire a long time ago and started talking to her about her tattoo on her neck. She was covered up there. There was this GIANT monarch butterfly. I was so pretty. Her name is Jana. She is beautiful.
She told me the words are lyrics from Leonard Cohen song “Bird on the wire”. She has the time piece because “time has no relativity”. Jana was tired of taking too much time watching it pass. “If you take off the face, you have the inner workings.”
Jana does not have Facebook or a cell phone. She is pretty amazing and I’ll never forget her, and probably never see her again.
