Leonard Cohen Did It

It seems too many folks were interested in topic of the 2012 Leonard Cohen Tour, crashing the Heck Of A Guy server last night. The server's surviving crew are gallantly rebuilding and hope to have the site back online soon.

Hermitage Prisoner at Abstractor Of The Quintessence has named the DrHGuy site a Liesbter Blog Award winner. While this may smack of logrolling, given that DrHGuy bestowed a Liebster Award upon Holy Roman's Cyber-empire - the sites managed by  Hermitage Prisoner (aka Roman Gavrilin), DrHGuy has calculated that being able to read such kind words about this blog more than  compensates for suffering any (metaphorical) slings and arrows of outrageous fortune that may be triggered as a result:

Glitch Knocks Heck Of A Guy Site Offline For 12 Hours

According to the message from the host site, it was a "failure on the server platform ... linked to a filesystem issue on the cloud storage" that took our sister site, Heck Of A Guy, (and others) offline for 12 hours yesterday.

My understanding of the problem is diagrammed below.

At the time of this posting, the Heck Of A Guy site  looks like it did two days ago (February 2, 2012); the posts, comments, and edits completed after February 2, 2012 are missing.  The updated site (i.e., as it was just before the catastrophe yesterday) will, I am assured, be back in place today.

I apologize for these problems.

DrHGuy and The Duchess are indeed departing for the sun-drenched shores of Kaanapali Beach to celebrate their nuptials. One consequence of this event is that both the Heck Of A Guy and DrHGuy sites will be dormant until our return in February.  While The Duchess and DrHGuy are wild for Leonard Cohen, it is, as they say in  those post-calculus math courses, intuitively apparent that the marriage would be best served by DrHGuy attending to the business at hand (make your own joke) rather than pounding out posts.

That does not, however, mean that matters Cohen will be entirely forgotten in the next week or two. In fact, this occasion had led to another installment of  Cohenphilic Personality Disorder symptoms. That’s right, there is now a set of signs for

Credit Due Department: Photo taken by DrHGuy during his last trip to Maui too many years ago.

After a technical glitch rendered our sibling site (HeckOfAGuy, where the ever-vigilant gargoyle usually hangs out) nonoperational most of today, order was returned to the universe and the cosmos realigned with the return of HeckOfAGuy online within the past hour.

Indeed, until DrHGuy returns from his annual Hilton Head vacation on June 6, 2011, the Heck Of A Guy and DrHGuy sites will be in hibernation. If any new posts appear, they are likely to be Chocolodka-fueled and should, consequently, be viewed with caution.

Photos: The first and third photos of Table Rock Lake were taken during the day from Mom's deck. The fourth photo was taken from the same location at dusk. The second shot was taken near Shell Knob, Missouri. All photos were shot during a July 2010 trip.

DrHGuy is spending a few days with his Mom at her cabin on Table Rock Lake in the Ozarks. The DrHGuy and Heck Of A Guy sites will be dormant until his return Wednesday, May 11, 2011.

 

DrHGuy (the site) and its affiliated sites will be on hiatus from now until April 25, 2011 while DrHGuy (the DrHGuy himself) pursues other endeavors.
